Yungblud says pansexual is "the label that allows me to be who I am"

The 27-year-old rocker came out as pansexual - which is defined as an attraction to people of any gender or to people regardless of their gender - in 2020 and believes it gives him the most freedom to be himself.

He told Attitude magazine: "I am the pan man - I'm the fucking saucepan. Because it's the [label] that allows me to be who I am; it's the one with the most room for manoeuvre. Do you know what I'm saying? I do feel like I am less insecure about it.

He added that his sexuality is a ""f****** simmering pan" and said that "the hardest thing [is] to have my authenticity questioned, because I've only ever been myself".

Speaking about how inclusive his own music festival BludFest is, the star - whose real name is Dominic Harrison - said: "I think that's what deserves the most credit, in terms of how many young people are allowed to feel safe in our space, or come out in our space, or really feel loved in our space.

"I think that's what I feel most proud of when we talk about Pride."

Yungblud - who will be named a Pride ICON award winner at the PEUGEOT Attitude PRIDE Awards Europe 2025 - previously praised his ex-girlfriend Halsey for helping him to come to terms with his sexuality.

He told Attitude: "She taught me so much, even about my sexuality. The conversations we would have at night, she has such knowledge because she's been openly bisexual for years. It's so funny when you're dating someone, yet owe them a lot towards your sexuality. Even though she is not a man, she made me go, 'Oh my god, I probably am into that.'

"I met someone and she changed my whole perception of what love could be. It didn't work out in the end because we're better as friends and I think that's what it was. We're kind of very the same so that was weird for us."
