    Residents have been allowed to return home in Nelson, after being evacuated due to the discovery of a suspicious item

    Residents have been allowed to return home in Nelson, after being evacuated due to the discovery of a suspicious item


    Several households were sent to a community centre after police were called to a property on Waimea Road.

    The Defence Force Bomb Squad was sent in.

    Police say the item was found not to be a threat to public safety, about 4 this morning.

    An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
