Selena Quintanilla's dad has died at the age of 86

Singer Abraham Quintanilla Jr's passing was announced by his son, Abraham 'A.B.' Quintanilla III, 62, via a post on Instagram on Saturday (13.12.25).

Captioning a photo of his late dad, and overlayed the post with Pedro Infante's song, Cien Anos, the record producer penned: "It's with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today..."

A.B. did not share any more details about Abraham's death.

The announcement caused thousands of people to express their deepest sympathies to the Quintanillas in the post's comments section.

One user wrote: "Sending you all loads of love. I have such warm memories of him, his sense of humour, his laughter. Big love."

A second follower said: "My condolences sorry for your loss @abquintanilla3. He was such an amazing man sending you love, hugs prayers and strength to you and your family. (sic)"

And a third person penned: "I'm so sorry for your loss, your father's love and the memories you shared will always be a part of you."

Abraham - who sang in the band, Los Dinos - married Marcella Quintanilla, 81, in June 1963, after they reportedly met while he was stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Washington,

The couple then welcomed A.B., Suzette Quintanilla, 58, and Selena into the world.

Music icon Selena was tragically killed in March 1995 at the age of 23 by her former fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar - who was fired from the role shortly before the murder, and has always maintained that the shooting was accidental.

In 1995, Yolanda, 65, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 30 years, however, in March 2025, the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole denied parole, citing the "nature" of the crime as the reason for denying parole.

However, Yolanda - who suggested that her sentencing was influenced by Selena's fame and popularity, which the parole board refuted and insisted that they followed the usual procedure with Yolanda's case - has her next parole review set for March 2030.

Selena and her band, Selena y Los Dinos, were managed by Abraham, with A.B. on bass, Suzette on drums, and Selena's husband, Chris Perez, 56, on guitar.
