The Privacy Commissioner is seeking more information about police knowledge of a shopping incident involving an ex Green MP

Store security stopped and questioned Golriz Ghahraman at Royal Oak's Pak'nSave in the weeks before her High Court case in October.

Foodstuffs did not report the incident to police but recorded in the Auror retail crime platform, which Police can freely access - even without a complaint being made.

Herald reporter David Fisher says police tried to introduce it into Ghahraman's High Court sentencing appeal.

He says after speaking to defence lawyers, it's quite a stretch to call it a shoplifting allegation.
