Michael Douglas has been hailed as a "wonderful" boyfriend by one of his longest-standing exes

The 80-year-old actor dated actress Brenda Vaccaro, 85, for seven years and even though he has been renowned for his playboy image, she has now spoken fondly of her past relationship with the A-lister, describing their years together as "breathtaking"

She told Page Six: "I do still adore him. I think he's wonderful."

Michael and Brenda were in a relationship in the 1970s after co-starring in the 1971 film 'Summertree'. Brenda also reflected on that time in their lives by telling Page Six: "Oh my God, we were such a gorgeous couple. Breathtaking."

The couple relocated from New York to California together, a move that coincided with the early successes in their respective careers.

"To come to California together to experience all that stuff... he got his first show, 'The Streets of San Francisco' - we were so excited," she said.

"It was like, 'Wow, you know, we left New York and came to California and everything that was supposed to happen happened.'"

Brenda, who was married once before her relationship with Michael, went on to marry three more times. She has been with her fourth husband, Guy Hector, since 1986.

Michael, meanwhile, married Diandra Luker in 1977, with whom he shares a son, Cameron Douglas, now 46.

Following their divorce in 1995, Michael married Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000. The couple have two children - Dylan, 24, and Carys, 22.

Brenda's latest project is 'Nonnas', a Netflix comedy film based on the true story of a Brooklyn man, played by Vince Vaughn, who opens a restaurant staffed by grandmothers rather than professional chefs.

Michael's illustrious career spans over five decades, with iconic roles in both film and television.

He gained widespread recognition with his portrayal of the ambitious corporate raider Gordon Gekko in Oliver Stone's 'Wall Street' (1987), which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Micheal continued to build his legacy with roles in films such as 'Romancing the Stone' (1984), 'Fatal Attraction' (1987), and more recently the 'Ant-Man' series, which has earned him a legion of younger fans.
