Police have launched a homicide investigation after it appears a man died in Auckland's Point England - run over by his own vehicle

He was found on Point England Road at 11.15pm on Saturday.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant, Mark Greaves says the man's vehicle was stolen - but was recovered yesterday morning and is being examined.

He says they're looking into the movements of the car - which travelled extensively across Auckland while stolen.

Greaves says the focus is identifying who is responsible.
