The New Zealand women's sevens side have thrashed Fiji 41-7 in the final of the Vancouver World Series event

The New Zealand women's sevens side have thrashed Fiji 41-7 in the final of the Vancouver World Series event

The game was done by halftime, as Risi Pouri-Lane, Manaia Nuku, Stacey Waaka and Jorja Miller dotted down for a 22-nil lead at the break.

The carnage continued after halftime, with Michaela Brake, 18-year-old Maia Davis and Mahina Paul completing the thumping.

It's New Zealand's second win from four tournaments this season - after finishing runners-up at the other two.

The Black Ferns Sevens now have a six point lead over second placed Australia in the series standings.

The New Zealand men finished sixth - but sit seventh overall.

Argentina won the men's event with a 19-12 win over South Africa.
