A push for more schools to take on bullying prevention programmes, which are proving to be effective

Finland-based KiVa focuses on prevention, intervention and monitoring bullying rates through regular data.

The Children's Commissioner believes a national response could help our high bullying rates.

Director of operations, Meg Craig, says New Zealand schools report 24 percent of their students are bullied two or three times a month - before KiVa.

She says the schools report a 23 percent decrease in reported bullying after one year.
