Michelle Rodriguez is determined to tap into her "rebellious energy"

The 46-year-old actress has enjoyed huge success in the movie business, starring in the 'Avatar' and the 'Fast and Furious' franchises - but Michelle still sees herself as outlier in Hollywood

She told PEOPLE: "I think, ultimately, at the end of the day, it's like being a salmon swimming upstream, and Hollywood always feels like the stream."

Michelle is determined to remain true to herself in the film business.

She explained: "You don't want to be pushed around or [let] anybody to tell [you that you] can't get to the other side of the river. I'm going to get there one way or another. I don't care which way everybody else is going.

"That's the rebellion. All it is is just sticking to who you are."

Michelle previously insisted that her "line in the sand is very clear".

The actress explained that there are some boundaries that she's simply unwilling to cross in her career.

The movie star told Collider: "My line in the sand is very clear. There's a line for self-respect, there's a line of this is what I wouldn't do in front of millions of people around the world on purpose. You know what I mean?

"And if you try to cross that line with me, perhaps trying to get me to play a s*** in front of millions of people around the world, won't happen. Try to get me to be the loser girlfriend who has a cheating boyfriend and cries over him an entire film, not gonna happen. Be the girl who's a stripper or a drug dealer because Latinos are thrown into that box all the time. I'm like, not gonna happen."
