Three people, including a teen, have been arrested after complaints of extortion attempts by security staff at an Auckland supermarket

A shopper at PaknSave in Manukau says guards falsely accused her in January of shoplifting - and demanded 395 dollars and threatened more fines.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Tiernan says after five complaints, men aged 23 and 39, and a 19-year-old woman - have been charged with demands with intent and obtains by deception.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison, and the trio will appear in the District Court next week.
