New insurance data reveals Bali is still a spot of trouble for New Zealand travellers

In 2025, Southern Cross Travel Insurance paid out some 7.3-million dollars in overall claims.
One of the costliest came in at a whopping 650-thousand dollars for a person who became ill in Italy.
Chief Customer Officer Jess Strange says rising claims for gastro and moped accidents are typical claims from travellers in Bali.
She says it even received 24 claims for, what it calls, 'monkey mishaps.'
