Will Arnett booted a "very famous" star off his Smartless podcast for being a "f****** rank a**hole"

The 55-year-old actor hosts the show along with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes and he's revealed they "recently" recorded an episode with a well-known comedian but they ended up cutting him off after 10 minutes and deleting his contribution from the podcast.

During an appearance on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, Arnett explained: "[There was] one very famous comedian, who I will tell you after [we stop recording], who was a f****** rank a**hole. Recently. And we cut him off after 10 minutes and said: 'Thanks so much,' and then ditched him.

"And you'll be blown away by who it is."

He then joked: "Cause you'll be like: 'How did you get Bill Cosby?'"

Arnett revealed he also had trouble with a female comedian, who asked the podcasters not to air her episode.

He said: "We had a guest - a comedian - she asked us to not air her episode. We were like: 'F**k, it cost us money, and the guys, we all had to do it and blah blah blah.' She was worried because she thought that she was up-and-coming."

Arnett added: "I won't tell you [her name] until we're absolutely cut, but we were like: 'You're good [you're not that up-and-coming].' And turns out, we were right."

The revelation comes just days after Arnett's co-host Jason Bateman was left red-faced during a chat with Charli XCX on the podcast after failing to realise the pop star was married.

The pair were talking about Charli's decision not to have children, and Batemen suggested she could change her mind, telling her: "[My wife Amanda] did not want to have kids, so the story goes. And she said once we started going out, she was like: 'Okay, I think I can have a kid with this guy.' So you might find somebody."

The chat then got awkward as Charli had to point out she is already married after tying the knot with musician George Daniel last year, saying: "Well, I'm married.

Bateman then joked, "I've got to read a newspaper one of these days ... Maybe your next husband, you're gonna want to have kids with him."
