Jelly Roll found reading Bunnie Xo's memoir to be "rough at times"

The 41-year-old star has been married to Bunnie since 2016, but he still found it tough to read his wife's tell-all memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic.

Speaking to People, he explained: "It was rough at times just for me to read it. You know what I mean?

"We went through a lot of pain and having to go through it together, but reading the whole book and seeing where it ended at is really touching."

Despite this, Jelly Roll feels proud of his wife for being so honest about her personal struggles.

He said: "I'm just proud of her for telling her story so unapologetically.

"I mean, she talks about everything fearlessly, from domestic assault to sexual assault. I'm just proud of her. She's so brave."

Meanwhile, Jelly Roll recently credited Bunnie with saving his life, following his success at the Grammys.

The music star delivered a heartfelt speech after receiving the award for Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken.

The singer told the crowd at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles: "They're going to try to kick me off here, so just let me try to get this out...

"First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I'm listening. Lord, I am listening. Lord.

"Second of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife. I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn't for you and Jesus. I thank you for that."

Jelly Roll also opened up about the experiences that inspired his hit record.

The singer - who spent time in and out of jail during his younger years - said: "There was a time in my life, y'all, that I was broken. That's why I wrote this album. I didn't think I had a chance, y'all. There was days that I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human."
