Corrections officials say a rise in alleged sexual assaults by prison officers could be down to reporting changes

The Department's released data showing 619 allegations were made against staff in the last reporting year - up from 265 two years earlier.
Corrections says the prisoner kiosks now allow inmates to submit allegations against staff directly.
It says it's found the overwhelming majority of these submissions are made in error because they don't relate to sexual assault or aren't allegations at all.
The data does not include Auckland South Corrections Facility, because it's privately managed by Serco.
