A court martial enters its second day at Auckland's Devonport Naval Base this afternoon, with a senior naval officer facing allegations of misconduct

The officer, who has interim name suppression, pleaded not guilty to a charge of doing an act likely to prejudice service discipline.

It's alleged while on overseas deployment in 2023, they encouraged a junior officer under their command to kiss them on the cheek.

The defendant denies it happened.

Judge William Hastings will sum up findings from 1pm, allowing military members to enter deliberations.
