Some good news, despite revelations New Zealand's in a deep recession

Some good news, despite revelations New Zealand's in a deep recession

Stats NZ figures out today show GDP fell one percent in the three months to September, ending the weakest six months for the economy since 1991 - excluding the Covid years.

Activity declined in 11 of the 16 industries measured.

The Herald's Liam Dann says the past quarter marks a low point for the economy, and it'll be recovery from here.

He says today's revised figures also had another surprise.

Dann says it shows there was no recession in 2023.
