Living-cost inflation is starting to slow

Living-cost inflation is starting to slow

Stats NZ data shows the cost of living for the average household increased three percent in the year to December - down from a 3.8 percent increase in September.

Annual inflation is still sitting at 2.2 percent.

ASB senior economist Mark Smith says a downturn on mortgage rates could slow things even further.

However, he says the benefits will skew towards higher income households.
