A top lawyer has called for Auckland Council to halt consultation on plans for a Western Springs stadium, until a legal challenge is complete

A top lawyer has called for Auckland Council to halt consultation on plans for a Western Springs stadium, until a legal challenge is complete

Last year, councillors voted to move the speedway from Western Springs to Onehunga's Waikaraka Park.

The Western Springs Speedway Association lodged a judicial review at the High Court in Auckland over the decision's lawfulness.

It argues a Speedway New Zealand letter and other documents were misrepresented, fabricated, or tampered with to support the move.

Bronwyn Carruthers KC argues there should be no decision until the judicial proceedings have been determined.
