Northland MP Grant McCullum says tackling the region's meth issues won't be a five minute fix

Ngapuhi leader Mane Tahere's asked Police to carry out drug raids - in a similar manner to those in Opotiki last year.

He says he recently witnessed youngsters smoking meth in daylight on Kaikohe's main street.

McCallum says Police and Parliament can only do so much - so it's good to see the community getting involved.

He says they've been to meetings and had these discussions - and the next phase is taking action.
