    Former New Zealand cricket coach David Trist has died aged 77


    He mentored the Black Caps to their first world title in 2000, the Champions Trophy in Kenya, during his tenure between 1999 and 2001.

    Trist played 24 first-class matches for Canterbury and one List A game for New Zealand against Victoria in 1972.

    He also spent many seasons coaching in South Africa, the Netherlands and Hong Kong, as well as becoming an erudite expert commentator in later years.
