    The average price of a home in 2000, has more than quadrupled


    But OneRoof and Valocity have found affordability's worsened - with household incomes failing to keep pace.

    In Auckland, the median house price is now 7.4 times the median income.

    OneRoof editor Owen Vaughan says prices have also surged at a higher rate in the regions - with areas like Southland jumping more than 650 percent.

    He says while the dollar value isn't as big, the percentage change is quite considerable.
