Sherri Shepherd's talk show has been axed after four series

The 58-year-old actress and comedian first fronted show Sherri in September 2022, but Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury has confirmed the series has been canned, partly due to the "evolving daytime television landscape".

Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said in a statement to PEOPLE: "This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production - which has found strong creative momentum this season - or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd."

However, that may not be the end for the series, because the TV syndication company are "exploring alternative" platforms for the show.

Bernstein and Marcus added: "We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms."

Production on the current fourth series is expected to continue ahead of a final episode airing this autumn.

The news came shortly after pop star Kelly Clarkson revealed her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, will also come to an end later this year.

Sherri is currently on her Make it Make Sense comedy tour, and she took to social media this week to thank her fans for watching her on the road.

She said in an Instagram video: "I'm so thankful that I get to do what I love, which is making people laugh, so thank you guys for letting me make you laugh.

"I'm tired, it's brutal being on the road. It's not like when I was 20."

Sherri added in the caption: "Finished the 4th city of my "Make it Make Sense" comedy tour... two packed shows full of love + laughter ... 16 more cities to fo! Next up #milwaukee #wisconsin - go to sherrishepherd.com for tix. Take a nap + bring a Warm coat (sic)"
