    The weather is starting to improve but people are being warned to be cautious


    MetService has no warnings or watches in place following severe weather for parts of both the North and South Islands.

    A State of Emergency is still in place for the in Nelson Tasman and Marlborough regions.

    A person who was helping clear flood damage at Wai-iti - south of Wakefield was killed after being reportedly hit by a tree.

    Emergency Management Minister Mark Mitchell will be visiting the area today.

    While the situation has moved into recovery mode - dangers are still present with damage across the Nelson area.
