Josh Duhamel quit life in Los Angeles because he wanted to "get back to the basics"

The 52-year-old actor decided to leave the brights of Los Angeles behind and move to Minnesota, where he's embraced a totally different lifestyle

Speaking to People, Josh explained: "I make movies and TV shows, and I love it, I truly do love it, but I had this calling to go and really do things with my hands again - fix things, make things and just do the basic things that we take for granted.

"I'm really more of a guy who wants to stay true to my roots, get back to the basics, hone whatever basic skills I need in this world of massive technology, to do the basic things to provide for my family. That's really what it's about for me."

Josh has actually refurbished his lakeside property in Minnesota, and he's now relishing the "simple things in life".

He said: "We're at a place now where it feels done. It's completely liveable now.

"It's so back to the basics. We get so accustomed to all these luxuries and these amenities that we have ... and I think that's what this is for me - it's an opportunity to get back to the basics and really enjoy the simple things in life, and that's family, that's friends, that's making memories."

Despite this, Josh acknowledges that living in a rural area comes with challenges, too.

He shared: "We are constantly fighting the mice from getting into the cabins. That's a constant man versus nature struggle we deal with."

Meanwhile, Josh previously revealed that he's undergone testosterone replacement therapy so he can "stay young" for his wife.

The actor - who has been married to Audra Mari, a former Miss World, since 2022 - has made a concerted effort to boost his natural hormones.

He told Men's Health Lab: "It's important for her that I stay as young and virile for as long as I can.

"I think that there is an overall wellness, you know, just for just for those purposes alone...

"Just having that energy, that that that desire to go out and achieve, be a better dad, be a better brother, be a better friend, be a better business owner, you don't taper off like you would normally-and I think that that's also one of the benefits of it, mentally and physically."
