Nicole Scherzinger thinks record labels became hesitant to support her music after she turned 30

The 47-year-old singer enjoyed huge success as part of the Pussycat Dolls between 2003 and 2010, but Nicole claims that attitudes towards her changed after she turned 30

During an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, Nicole explained: "I'll never forget when I turned 30 after the [Pussycat] Dolls, and the record labels were still, like, hesitant to play my music."

CBS correspondent Tracy Smith, who conducted the sit-down interview, then asked: "Because you turned 30?"

And Nicole replied: "Yes. I think when I was in my early 30s, they were already ageing me up in roles."

The chart-topping star also noted that she was pigeonholed as "the mother" whenever she auditioned for an acting job.

She said: "I was, like, 'But, I don't have children'.

"It's definitely still relevant, but I think the women are changing, so things are changing. We are not allowing people to hold us back and view us in that way because we don't view ourselves, and we don't put ourselves in a box like that.

"We're the ones that are changing, and because of that, the industry is changing."

Meanwhile, Nicole is engaged to Thom Evans and she recently hailed her fiance as her "rock".

The former sports star was by Nicole's side throughout her run in Sunset Blvd, the hit musical, in London and New York, and Nicole revealed that she really appreciates having his support.

Nicole - who plays Norma Desmond in the musical - told People: "It's really important to have a partner who supports you and believes in you, like I said in my [Tony Awards acceptance] speech, when you sometimes forget to believe in yourself.

"And he's been such a constant and a rock for me during this time, and he just really, he really gets me, my fiance. He's gotten me from day one."

Nicole feels that Thom really "understands" how she approaches her work.

The actress - who has been engaged to Thom since 2023 - shared: "I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I'm an extremely hard worker. Nothing's ever enough. And he understands that about me, and he supports me in every way that I need to be supported. And he just gets me."
