Hart to Hart stars Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers recently reunited for the former's 96th birthday

A picture uploaded on Robert's Instagram shows the pair - who played married couple Jonathan and Jennifer Hart in the ABC mystery series - embracing in honour of the Austin Powers star's birthday earlier this month.

The photo was captioned: "When Jonathan and Jennifer reunite, it's always something special.

"Thank you, Stefanie, for the beautiful birthday visit."

Hart to Hart saw Wagner and Powers play wealthy couple Jonathan and Jennifer - who led a glamorous jetset lifestyle and often found themselves working as unpaid detectives to solve crimes that they had become embroiled in.

The series aired for five years from 1979 to 1984 before Robert and Stefanie reprised their roles for eight made-for-TV movies between 1993 and 1996.

The pair's friendship has endured for decades and Stefanie recalled how they supported each other following the deaths of their respective partners William Holden and Natalie Wood within weeks of each other in November 1981 - following a fall and drowning respectively.

The 83-year-old star told Fox News Digital in 2024: "We did - we leaned on each other for support. And we also understood that we had committed to do a television series. It had to go on. The show had to go on, and no one would've understood that more than the partners we both lost.

"It was a very difficult time. We were held up by a lot of wonderful people and friends, some mutual friends and some on each side of the coin. And RJ (Wagner) had daughters. He also had children to keep supporting... emotionally. So it was a complicated and difficult time."

Wood's mysterious death has been subject to much discussion and Robert was named as a "person of interest" by police in 2018 as it was established that he was the last person to see his wife before her disappearance.

Speaking in a preview clip from Natalie Wood: Death in Dark Water, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lieutenant John Corin told CBS' 48 Hours: "As we've investigated the case over the last six years, I think he's [Wagner's] more of a person of interest now.

"I mean, we know now that he was the last person to be with Natalie before she disappeared ... I haven't seen him tell the details that match all the other witnesses in this case. I think he's constantly changed his story a little bit. And his version of events just don't add up."
