A fisherman at Otaki Beach has had to be rescued after two freak waves pushed him into the water

He was knocked unconscious, and found face down by a nearby windsurfer near the mouth of the Otaki River in May.
The Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter treated the man - named John - for hypothermia and water in his lungs, and flew him to hospital.
He's now fully recovered.
