Waikato Regional Council's confirmed funding will continue for the Te Huia passenger train between Hamilton and Auckland for the next two years

Waikato Regional Council's confirmed funding will continue for the Te Huia passenger train between Hamilton and Auckland for the next two years

Councillors made the decision after two days of deliberations about its Long-Term Plan.

Earlier this month NZTA confirmed putting 12.2 million dollars towards keeping the service running; at least until April 2026.

Council chairwoman Pamela Storey says many in the community have been waiting on tenterhooks for this decision.
