    State Highway Three southeast of Hawera, in Taranaki, has been closed after a serious crash


    The collision involving two vehicles happened at about 5:15 near Mokoia Road.

    Hato Hone St John has sent two helicopters and multiple ambulances to the scene.

    Police say initial indications are that there are serious injuries.

    People are asked to avoid the area and there are diversions in place.
