    The rescue of a person trapped in a caravan that a tree fell on, in North Canterbury last night, is being described as complex and technical


    Emergency crews were called to Balmoral Station Road around 7.30pm.

    A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says someone was trapped in a caravan, and a digger was being used to free them.

    St John says the critically injured person was removed from the caravan shortly before 10pm.

    They were transported to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition.
