A boy racer crackdown in Invercargill over the weekend found just eight cars inspected were without any faults

Police pulled over 161 vehicles on Friday and Saturday nights, sending 54 to be inspected.

Of the overall number of vehicles pulled over, 33-percent weren't fit to be on the road.

Senior Sergeant Scott MacKenzie says the number of vehicles ordered off the road really surprised police.
