    Showers, some heavy with thunderstorms and hail possible about Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki this morning, easing west of Tongariro this afternoon. Snow to 2200 metres about Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki.

    WINDS
    Northerlies, strong to gale in exposed places north of the Ruahine ranges, easing this morning.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    2700 metres, lowering to 1400 metres in the south this evening.

    Kahurangi National Park
    Mostly cloudy with occasional showers.

    Nelson Lakes National Park and Richmond Forest Park, also Kaikoura ranges.
    Showers, clearing this morning but cloudy periods remain.

    Arthur's Pass National Park to Mt Cook National Park
    Cloudy periods, with isolated showers.

    Mt Aspiring and Fiordland National Park
    Mainly fine, some cloud in the east.
