    North of Whirinaki Forest Park
    Isolated showers clearing to fine overnight.

    Remaining North Island mountain areas
    Scattered showers, with snow to about 1400 metres, clearing overnight. Mainly fine on Wednesday, with areas of early low cloud, then cloud returning in the evening.

    WINDS
    Gale west or southwest winds, severe at times, easing overnight, then rising to gale about the Tararuas Wednesday evening.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 1600 metres.


    south island


    Isolated showers about and west of the Southern Alps, then clearing this evening, returning there by tomorrow morning. Snow possibly to 1100 metres.

    WINDS
    Strong westerly, gale in exposed places, rising to severe gale by tomorrow evening.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    1400 metres, sloping to 1200 metres in the south.
