    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0715hrs Thursday 03-Apr-2025 by MetService

    Strong wind advisory for Manukau Harbour, Hauraki Gulf, Waitemata Harbour and Bream Head to Cape Colville

    Situation:
    A deep low is positioned just west of the South Island, moving southeastward and driving a strong northeasterly flow over New Zealand. Several fronts associated with the low will cross the country today. The large trough on Friday then shifts eastward, moving out of the region late in the day. A ridge of high pressure moves over New Zealand on Saturday. On Sunday, a low over the Tasman Sea approaches the centre of the country, followed by a strong southwesterly wind establishing itself by late Monday.

    Forecast issued at 0437hrs Thursday 03-Apr-2025
    Valid to 7 am Thursday for Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

    For Manukau Harbour:
    Thursday: Northeast 15 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots this morning, and to 30 knots gusting 40 knots late evening. Sea becoming rough this morning. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with heavy falls. For west coast - Westerly swell rising to 2 metres.
    Friday: Northerly 25 knots, becoming westerly 10 knots in the afternoon. Rain, turning to showers. For west coast - Westerly swell rising to 3 metres for a time.
    Saturday: Westerly 15 knots, easing to variable 5 knots later. Fine. For west coast - Southwest swell 2.5 metres.
    Sunday: Variable 5 knots, becoming northwest 15 knots later. A few showers developing. For west coast - Southwest swell 2 metres.

    For Waitemata Harbour:
    Thursday: Northeast 20 knots gusting 30 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots this morning, and to 30 knots gusting 40 knots late evening. Sea becoming rough this morning. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with heavy falls.
    Friday: Northerly 25 knots, becoming westerly 10 knots in the afternoon. Rain, turning to showers.
    Saturday: Southwest 15 knots. Fine.
    Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Becoming northwest 15 knots later. A few showers developing.

    For Hauraki Gulf:
    Thursday: Northeast 20 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots this morning, and to 30 knots gusting 40 knots this afternoon. Sea becoming rough this morning. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with heavy falls.
    Friday: Northerly 25 knots, becoming westerly 15 knots in the afternoon. Rain, turning to showers. Northerly swell 1 metre developing.
    Saturday: Southwest 15 knots. Fine. Northerly swell 1 metre dying out.
    Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, turning northwest 15 knots early. A few showers developing.

    For Bream Head to Cape Colville:
    Thursday: Northeast 20 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots this morning, and to 30 knots gusting 40 knots this afternoon. Sea becoming rough this morning. Cloudy. Poor visibility in periods of rain with heavy falls. Northeast swell rising to 1.5 metres.
    Friday: Northerly 30 knots, changing southwest 10 knots in the evening. Rain, turning to showers. Northerly swell rising to 2 metres.
    Saturday: Southwest 10 knots. Fine. Northeast swell easing to 1 metre.
    Sunday: Southwest 10 knots, turning northwest 10 knots early, rising to 20 knots later. Partly cloudy. Northeast swell 1 metre dying out.
