    Recreational Marine: Bay of Islands
    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0130hrs Wednesday 21-May-2025 by MetService

    Situation:
    High pressure dominates the weather over most of New Zealand, while a front accompanied by strong westerlies brushes the south of the South Island on both Wednesday and Thursday. High pressure continues to dominate the country, while a front lingers near the bottom of the South Island from Friday to Saturday. On Sunday, a trough moves onto the country, bringing with it a northerly flow.

    Forecast issued at 2306hrs Tuesday 20-May-2025
    Valid to 1 am Wednesday for Bay of Islands Recreational Marine Area.
    Wednesday: Southerly 15 knots, becoming southeast 10 knots early afternoon. Sea slight. Fine apart from some morning cloud. Easterly swell half a metre.

    Outlook until midnight Saturday:
    Thursday: Southeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots in the morning.
    Becoming southerly 10 knots in the evening. Partly cloudy. Easterly
    swell half a metre to 1 metre.
    Friday: Southwest 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Partly cloudy.
    Easterly swell 1 metre.
    Saturday: Variable 5 knots, becoming easterly 10 knots early. Partly cloudy.
    Easterly swell 1 metre.
