![]() Recreational Marine: Bay of Plenty Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0715hrs Thursday 03-Apr-2025 by MetService Nil for PLENTY Situation: A deep low is positioned just west of the South Island, moving southeastward and driving a strong northeasterly flow over New Zealand. Several fronts associated with the low will cross the country today. The large trough on Friday then shifts eastward, moving out of the region late in the day. A ridge of high pressure moves over New Zealand on Saturday. On Sunday, a low over the Tasman Sea approaches the centre of the country, followed by a strong southwesterly wind establishing itself by late Monday. Forecast issued at 0437hrs Thursday 03-Apr-2025 Valid to 7 am Thursday for Inshore waters from Matakana Island to Mayor Island to Motiti Island and then east to Torere River mouth. Strong wind advisory. Thursday: Northeast 15 knots, rising to 20 knots gusting 30 knots this afternoon, and to 25 knots gusting 35 knots late evening. Sea becoming rough late evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in drizzle, turning into rain from early evening. Northeast swell 1 metre. Outlook until midnight Sunday: Friday: Northerly 25 knots, easing to northwest 10 knots in the evening.
